Week Five - Russia

Still heading east... by train or hot air balloon for the truly adventurous!...

The world's largest country offers it all, from historic cities and idyllic countryside to artistic riches, epic train rides and vodka-fuelled nightlife. *

My first thoughts of Russia is St Basil's Cathedral!  A wonderful and crazy mix of colours and patterns, it's hard not to be fascinated by it all!

And here's my page, I've torn and distress my PP to make my curves, layered everything and added some flicks of gold.

After coating my cardstock with white gesso,  I stamped with Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder for a resist effect, I created the watercolour background with Shimmer Dust and spritz of water.

These Bee Arty - Arty Farty papers are so bright and colourful, perfect for a photo of my nephew painting. (Stock image used for public)  I've torn and distressed the edges to make my curve., layed up everything using 3D foam and finished off with some flick of my fav gold paint.
Added some cotton, sayings and a flair from the Travel kit.

Enjoy creating

Week Four - France

Heading east now across the North Atlantic Ocean ...
When I think of France I immediately think of Paris and the week I spent there.

Five things to see in Paris

  • The Eiffel Tower.
  • The Louvre.
  • Notre-Dame de Paris. Although this is in the process of being re-constructed after the fire a couple of years ago
  • Palace Of Versailles.
  • and Moulin Rouge.

France conjures up images of wine, fashion, love and much more for me.

The requirement this week is to use fabric, the technique is to sponge paint, the optional kit item is lace.

I have used Colour Blast Bee Arty Find Paradise Mystic Garden paper for the background of my layout

The paint on my layout is the white acrylic paint that I have sponged through Kaisercraft's Lattice stencil to the whole background

I also used Turquoise acrylic paint to colour my chipboard which came from
Dusty Attics Mini Captions #1 set and some white cardstock to cut my title from.

I have fussy cut the leaves from printed PVC fabric. The PVC fabric makes it very easy to attach the fabric to the page without getting in a mess with the glue showing through.

I used a bright pink cardstock to add a torn strip to the bottom of the layout and to mat my photos.

I used Kaisercraft's Alphabet Upper Case dies to cut my title, which is the name of the island we were on when these photos were taken.
The title was underlined with a fine black pen

The lace from the optional kit was attached at the top of the top photo and the bottom of the bottom photo.

Underlining the title and a scribbly border finish this page off.

I am really enjoying seeing everyone's interpretations of the themes for each country.

Till next time

Week 3 - Canada

   Heading north .....

Canada has some amazing scenery and as the second largest country in the world, we are all familiar with the Canadian Flag.

The flag itself has such an interesting history.

For this inspiration we want you to feature "Red & White"

My layout "Vacay"

I've used papers from Uniquely Creative "Once upon a Christmas" collection and fussy cut a lot of florals.

I had a play with a fussy cut title but it wasn't working for me - I just couldn't get the colour to match.

So I had to find something to match and a Thickers title was perfect.

I would normally add some splatters but I just can't bring myself to add red splatters.

So I've used the Kaisercraft Rhinestones to embellish.

Happy scrapping.

Can't wait to see your entries.

Now we are off to cross the South Atlantic Ocean to.....

Check out your baggage claim ticket for your mood board..

When I think of Africa I think of the Serengeti, wild animals and bright colours.

A little bit of general interest information for you

With 1.3 billion people as of 2018, it accounts for about 16% of the world's human population.*

And now on to this weeks layout

The technique for this week is stamping and the optional kit item to be used is chipboard.

I have taken the colours yellow and blue as my inspiration from the bottom photo on the moodboard

The papers I have chosen for this layout are Cocoa Vanilla's Daydream range

I have cut 2 strips of Garden Variety paper to 1" x 12"

2 strips of Sweet Serenity paper to 3/4" x 12"

and 2 strips of Sun Shower to 3/4" x 12"

I have torn one long edge of each of these paper strips, inked the edges with my black Versacolour ink cube and layered them onto my white card stock background so each layer slightly overlaps the one below it.

I have fussy cut several flowers from the Garden Variety sheet of patterned paper to embellish my page.

To fill the stamping requirement I used the zig zag stamp from Kaisercraft's Bow & Arrow stamp set to stamp with Versamark Ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder to areas of the background that would not be covered by my photos

The title was cut using Kaisercraft's Alphabet Upper Case die set from the Sun Shower patterned paper

I also used the Sun Shower patterned paper to cover the chipboard arrow from the optional kit before I attached it to the layout

Week One - Brazil

Welcome to our annual 8-week competition for 2021!

Are you ready for a fabulous 8 week trip around the world?

This year our challenges are inspired by amazing countries around the world but remember, your pages can be on any subject at all, just follow the challenge requirements.

So grab your gear we're off to...

When I think of Brazil I think of Rio.
Now I'm singing the song but I'm also thinking of all the colours of Carnival!

My inspiration is all about the rainbow:

"Captured"

The Cocoa Vanilla Studio "Sunkissed" collection is just perfect for this challenge.

Travel Kit item - washi tape.

I prepped my white cardstock with gesso

Then created a rainbow background using Distress Oxides but the colour dried a lot lighter than I planned so I added some more colour using my watercolour palette.

I love this title "Captured" from the Unforgettable Foam titles sheet.

Although my kit hasn't arrived, I've improvised with some washi tape from my stash.

I needed the layout to have a little pop so I fussy cut the Summerlights paper so I could add the stars.
The title was so dark so I added some black stamped stars to tie everything together.

I've finished with some stickers, cotton and Charms Creations Stars.

Here is the video to check out how this layout came together.

This was such fun, I can't wait to see your rainbow inspiration.

Happy Crafting ...
